See, Eat, Do: 5 Things to do in Perth This Week

It’s that crazy time of year – I bet your calendar is getting booked up, but make sure you fit some of these fun things in among the family events and work lunches. It’s only fitting as we head towards Christmas that there’s tonnes of eating and drinking to be done, but I’ve also lined up some incredible markets, a moving play about friendship and vampires, a chance to get among all things cruelty-free, and a summer street party.

Let The Right One In
On until Sunday 3 December (check website for all dates)

First it was a book, then a film, and now the play is on at Heath Ledger Theatre. Let The Right One In tells the tale of a friendship between the young, bullied Oskar and centuries old vampire Eli who has moved in next door but never leaves the house during the day. The two sense a kindred spirit in each other and become strong friends, but will everything change when people in their neighbourhood start dying? It’s being billed as a deeply moving and enigmatic tale of friendship, of promises made and bonds sealed in blood – and sounds like something not to be missed!

Perth City Christmas Market
Friday 17 November

It’s time to get serious about your Christmas shopping! As part of the launch of the new City of Perth Christmas Lights Trail, the Perth Makers Market is coming to Lot 10 Wellington Street for a night time market filled to the brim with high quality handmade goods. There will be food and drinks to snack on while you browse the arts, crafts, jewellery, homewares and clothing – in fact, there will be more than 90 stalls to check out! Don’t forget to grab a photo with Santa while you’re there.

If you love all things food, live music, pop up bars and market stalls, the Vic Park Summer Street Party is the event for you. Make the most of the sunshine as you stroll the streets and explore everything the precinct has to offer – from jazz, indie rock, Bollywood and brass music from DJs, big bands and soloists, to culinary diverse food trucks, stalls and alfresco offerings from locals fooderies, pop up bars along the highway, roving entertainers, art activations and lots of free kids activities, there really is something for everyone here.

The Perth Cruelty Free Fair 2017

If you’re vegan, vegetarian, cruelty-free, love animals or are curious about any of these things, Animal Liberation WA and The Animal Justice Party WA are hosting The Perth Cruelty Free Fair – in Fremantle, of course. The free event includes vegan food, fresh juice, cruelty-free products for sale, and tonnes of entertainment. You’ll be able to explore cruelty-free makeup, cleaning products, and candles, so why not start your Christmas shopping by picking up a present no one died for. It’s a dog friendly event, and you can even seize the opportunity to chat to some amazing NFP’s working to help our animals.

World of Food Festival

Gourmet international food stalls! There’s really not much more you need to know about the World of Food Festival – entry is free and you can buy fresh food from all around the world.
