See, Eat, Do: 5 Things to do in Perth This Week

It’s set to be a glorious, sunny week in Perth, which means no excuses to stay home (unless, of course, you’re mid-way through an amazing book because then I totally understand!). As always there’s plenty of things to see, eat and do around ton – including another hawkers market to dazzle your tastebuds, a handmade market where you can get a start on your Christmas shopping, a unique photographic exhibition, a fun night of burlesque, and the chance to meet one of Australia’s most famous dogs!

Mosaic 2017 Exhibition
On until 27 November

Photography has the incredible power of bringing people together, and that’s just what this free exhibition aims to do. On Saturday 23 September, more than 300 West Aussie’s captured a single photo from their day, and now these crowdsourced images are on display revealing the personal stories and unique moments in time that form a collective memory of life in WA. Take a look at just what makes our state, and its people, so incredible – images are on display in a prominent shopfront near the Hay Street Mall entrance of Carillon City Shopping Centre in the heart of the CBD.

Mt Hawthorn Hawkers Market
Friday 3 November

If you just can’t get enough of the Perth food truck and street food scene, you can now get another taste of affordable, fresh and tasty hawker-style food at Axford Park in Mount Hawthorn every Friday night. Along with live music and kids activities, the family-friendly markets will feature popular vendors like Marcelitas, Stampede Gelato, T Sisters and Bunga Raya Satay.

Underground Burlesque
Friday 3 November

Jump into the saucy world of burlesque with Perth favourites Sugar Blue Burlesque – the champagne will be flowing and the performers will be glowing at this feast for the senses at Rigby’s Bar. Let the showgirls take you back through the golden ages with tantalising tease and crowd-pleasing theatricality. Go for the full experience and book a ticket that include a two course dinner and champagne on arrival.

Life of Pikelet Book Signing
Friday 3 and Saturday 4 November

First up, if you don’t already follow Pikelet Butterwiggle Stoll, the Insta-famous rescue staffy from Life of Pikelet, then you’re really missing out. This dog is not only super handsome but an incredible foster brother and ambassador for rescue and pound pups across Australia, who spreads joy across the internet as he goes from goofy smiles to serious faces and cool costumes. Pikelet is in Perth for two book signings this weekend – Friday 3 November at Planet Books in Mt Lawley and Saturday 4 November at Saga Bookshop in South Fremantle, so go along to meet this stud and get your copy of his book pawtographed.

Perth Makers Market
Sunday 5 November

Christmas is fast approaching and the Perth Makers Market is the perfect opportunity to avoid jam-packed shopping centres and find unique, handmade gifts for all your loved ones. All the goodies for sale are made by hand in WA, and include wonderful things like clothing, toys, woodwork, art, sculptures and terrariums. From the Applecross market location you’ll be able to take in views of the Swan River, enjoy a picnic or barbecue, listen to live music, and take part in family-friendly activities including face painting, balloon twisting, an interactive craft experience and henna art.
