Unless you’ve worked nearby, you’ve probably never really had a reason to check out the iconic QV1 building in the heart of the city, but that is all about to change.
Earlier this week I was invited along to learn a bit more an exciting new dining and retail destination under development at QV1.
The Grounds will be a vibrant hub for not only city workers and QV1 tenants but also visitors, and it definitely sounds like it’ll be worth the short walk from the CBD’s current dining and bar hotspots.
As some of you may know, the always-delicious Mary Street Bakery has been serving up their amazing baked goods from a pop-up at QV1, and they’ve been announced as one of the first eateries to jump on board The Grounds – believe me when I tell you this is GREAT news for anyone who works in the area because nothing beats a 3pm snack craving like a Mary Street donut!
The ground floor of QV1 is going to be completely reimagined and transformed into an architecturally designed space centred on a beautiful garden. The aim is for it to become a dining haven and premiere retail destination, with bars, casual dining and ‘grab & go’ venues.
The Grounds is set to be completed next year, and I can’t wait to see who else gets on board – so far, we know that the former owners of Bar One restaurant will bring a contemporary inner-city tavern to The Grounds, known as Quo Vadis Baby.
On Tuesday we were lucky enough to be treated to catering by Mary Street Bakery as well as a few gorgeous goodies to take home, giving us a little glimpse of all the good things to come at QV1.
